Japanese Moina macrocopa, small water flea
Due to its very fast reproduction, the small water flea is excellent for breeding and feeding to aquarium inhabitants. It grows to about 2mm, making it suitable as food for small fish. Of course, larger fish also enjoy eating it.
The small water flea is an excellent substitute for or addition to Artemia.
Smaller containers up to 10 liters are suitable for breeding Moina. Temperatures can range from 18°C to 30°C. It will multiply very quickly. Distilled or rainwater is suitable as water.
Hatching can take about 5 - 14 days.
Please start the Moina in a slightly smaller container, up to 1 liter. The starter container should hold about 1 liter. Once you can identify the small Moina, wait another week. Then they can be transferred to a larger container.
Moinas are filter feeders. They readily accept spirulina powder or dry yeast. Always dissolve in a little water and feed drop by drop. When the turbidity of the water has almost disappeared, feed a little more.
You will receive an egg-sand mixture and a small bag of spirulina food from me.
