Muschelschaler Clam Shrimp ( Lynceus brachyurus )

Clam shrimps, along with fairy shrimps and back shrimps, belong to the Branchiopoda (ancient crustaceans).

They have a shell on both sides that protects them.

Clam shrimps filter the water to obtain food.

They are very fond of spirulina powder.

If they have laid resting eggs, these, like those of Triops, can hatch for many years.

Their eggs, which are not visible to the naked eye, look like flying saucers.

They are very easy to keep at room temperature between 18° and 23°.

Clam shrimps grow to between 0.5 cm and 2 cm in size.

It is best to use rainwater or distilled water for rearing. The container should be between 1 and 10 liters.
Always use a small container up to 1 liter for starting.
It takes up to 10 days for them to hatch.
